OMNI Tryout FAQ

OMNI Tryouts FAQs

  1. What levels does OMNI offer?
OMNI offers four pathways: National, Power, OMNI Premier, and OMiNIs. National is our flagship program with the highest level of travel and exposure for our boys and girls teams, Power offers competitive regional teams for our boys and girls teams, OMNI Premier is a standalone tier of competitive 1s and 2s girls teams with a distinct identity, and OMiNIs is our developmental program for 2nd–6th grade boys and girls. This year we are not offering a 12s Premier team, as OMiNIs and OMNI Academy will be offered instead.
  2. What should my athlete bring to tryouts?
Athletes should wear athletic clothing, court shoes, kneepads, and bring a water bottle. We provide tryout t-shirts and a number for identification.
  3. How are athletes evaluated and placed?
Athletes are evaluated by our coaching staff on skill, athleticism, volleyball IQ, effort, and coachability. Placement is based on what program best fits the athlete’s current level and long-term development.
  4. Can my athlete try out for multiple programs?
Yes. All athletes are automatically considered for National, Power, and OMNI Premier teams during their evaluation sessions. Players may attend multiple tryouts within their age group.
  5. How and when will we be notified about team placement?
Notifications are typically made the day of the tryout. Offers must be accepted by the stated deadline to secure a roster spot.
  6. What is the difference between OMNI Premier and Power?
OMNI Premier teams are competitive 1s and 2s teams with their own coaching staff, training structure, and exclusive uniforms. They are designed as a premium option for families seeking a high-level experience with balanced travel and competition. Power teams are 3s, 4s and sometimes 5s teams that are regionally competitive and emphasize development and growth.
  7. What is the tryout fee and what does it cover?
The tryout fee is $50 per player. This covers facility use, staff evaluation time, and the athlete’s tryout t-shirt.
  8. What if my athlete cannot attend tryouts?
We strongly recommend attending tryouts, but athletes who cannot attend should contact us directly to arrange an alternate evaluation.
  9. Can my athlete play up an age group?
Yes, but this is at the discretion of the coaching staff and OMNI Admin. An athlete may be placed up if it is determined to be the best fit for their development and for team needs.
  10. When do practices begin after tryouts?
Practices typically begin the week before the Thanksgiving holiday. Schedules will be communicated as soon as rosters are finalized.
